The University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) has always been a leader in higher education, and the Faculty of Administration and Economics (FAE) is no exception. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit their new building, a space that reflects the academic excellence and international prestige that accompany this institution, especially for its renowned Commercial Engineering program. This impressive building was inaugurated on Thursday, January 6, 2022, marking a milestone in the history of the university.
With 11 floors, 7 study rooms, and 3 underground levels, the building offers modern infrastructure that meets the demands of quality education.
A design that inspires innovation
When I first walked through the doors of the new building, I was overwhelmed with a sense of awe. Natural light flooded the spacious lobby, where a group of students were discussing a project enthusiastically, surrounded by an atmosphere full of creativity. At that moment, I remembered how education can transform lives and build futures.
The architecture combines open spaces, natural light, and areas designed to foster collaboration. The structure not only meets academic needs but also reflects the university’s commitment to sustainable development, incorporating technologies that reduce energy consumption and promote an ecological environment.
Every detail is designed to enhance learning: rooms equipped with technology, auditoriums designed for international events, and coworking areas that invite students to develop team projects.
International recognition: the hallmark of Commercial Engineering
The Commercial Engineering program at USACH has gained global recognition for its focus on training well-rounded leaders. During my visit, I stopped in front of one of the most advanced classrooms, where a professor was giving a lecture on global markets. Through the glass windows, I could observe how the students were taking notes while debating ideas that would likely be turned into real initiatives.
This prestige is reflected in the multiple international agreements and exchange programs the faculty maintains with renowned universities.
Spaces that strengthen the university community
Beyond the classrooms, the building has areas dedicated to student well-being. As I walked through the halls, I saw a group of students reviewing digital texts at modern workstations. I was also struck by the coffee machine in one of the common areas, where two professors were enthusiastically discussing research on circular economy.

Looking to the future
The new building of the Faculty of Administration and Economics at USACH is much more than modern infrastructure; it is a symbol of the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and the training of leaders who make a difference in an increasingly competitive world.
As I walked away from the building, I saw a group of students at the entrance, laughing and sharing ideas for a project. In their faces, I saw the future: a future full of possibilities, innovation, and the desire to change the world. This new space is not just a tool, but also a testament to the vision and effort that define USACH. Leaving the campus, I felt inspired and grateful to have witnessed this milestone in Chilean education.
