In the middle of the vast and challenging Atacama Desert, in the Antofagasta region, I was faced with a dilemma that tested my experience in the field of talent acquisition. I had been tasked with finding a key profile for the company's operations, but the search seemed to be immersed in a deafening silence, with no clear metrics or concrete background to guide me, in addition to a delay of more than a year in the response to the request.
Despite my boss's confidence in my abilities, every interview and every post seemed to fade away in a sea of uncertainty. Not even the help of an external consultant could clear the shadows that obscured the path to a solution. It was then, in a lonely hallway, after a month without results, when I found a ray of hope in the words of the HR director, after approaching her and telling her the story about herself.
With a promise of support and action, a door was opened to an unexpected solution. The answer was not desperation, but collaboration and joint action. We called a strategic meeting between the different pillars of the HR team, taking into account the specificities of the region and the labor market.
It was an act of equity and justice, a response to the need to adapt to the environment and the talent demands of the region. And so, with a 22% adjustment in the rent offered, the puzzle was finally solved. The seemingly endless process was completed 2 weeks later, and the key position found its ideal occupant. In the midst of uncertainty and adversity, we demonstrate that with collaboration and determination even the most insurmountable challenges can be overcome.
