You and I would never be a couple.

It was a rainy afternoon when Sofía and Tiago met by chance at the corner café. The city was wrapped in a melancholic gray, but inside the small shop, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the hum of conversations created a cozy refuge. Sofía, an illustrator who adored messy strokes and vibrant colors, was focused on sketching in her notebook. Tiago, an engineer who loved order and logic, was reviewing a report on his laptop while sipping an espresso.

The encounter was accidental and a bit awkward. Distracted by her sketches, Sofía accidentally spilled Tiago's coffee as she reached for a napkin.

"Sorry, really! I didn’t see you," Sofía said, frantically searching for something to clean up the mess.

Tiago looked up, more surprised than annoyed.

"Don’t worry, it’s just coffee. Though… it wasn’t cheap," he added with a small, sarcastic smile.

Sofía let out a nervous laugh, and between apologies, they ended up chatting. The conversation flowed unexpectedly, from the weather to movies, to debates about chaos versus order. As they parted ways, Tiago joked:

"Definitely, you and I would never be a couple. We’re too different."

Sofía laughed, but something about that statement lingered in her mind.

### Between Differences and Meetings

Despite their opposing worlds, their paths kept crossing. With every meeting, their differences became more apparent and, at the same time, more fascinating. Sofía lived in the creative chaos of her small studio, where colors and materials seemed to take over every corner. Tiago, on the other hand, resided in a minimalist, organized apartment where every object had a clear purpose.

When Sofía showed Tiago her drawings, he was struck by the freedom they expressed.

"How can you work in the middle of so much mess?" he would ask.

"And how can you live without a little mess?" she’d reply with a playful smile.

Their conversations, although sometimes resembling arguments, always led to learning something new from each other. Tiago began to appreciate the beauty in chaos, while Sofía started to see the charm in structure.

### The Turning Point

One night, during a thunderstorm, Sofía found herself stranded near Tiago’s building. Without hesitation, he invited her to stay. As they dined together in Tiago’s spotless kitchen, candlelight illuminated their faces.

"Do you remember what you said the first time we met?" Sofía asked suddenly.

"What was it?"

"That you and I would never be a couple."

Tiago let out a small laugh.

"I still think that. We’re too different."

Sofía nodded, but her eyes shone with a mix of challenge and tenderness.

"Maybe that’s true. But don’t you think our differences complement each other?"

Tiago fell silent, reflecting. There was something about her that defied all logic, something that made chaos and order not enemies but pieces of the same puzzle.

The Decision

Over time, what began as a firm statement turned into an open question. Tiago and Sofía weren’t a conventional couple, but they weren’t just friends either. They learned to build a space where both could be themselves, where differences didn’t divide them but brought them closer.

One day, while walking together in the rain, Tiago took Sofía’s hand and said:

"Maybe I was right. We would never be a typical couple."

Sofía looked at him, surprised.

"Is that a bad thing?"

Tiago smiled, squeezing her hand gently.

"No, it’s the best thing that could’ve happened to us."

Because sometimes, the most extraordinary stories are born from the most unexpected combinations.
